  1. I believe that info is in the credit check which can involve a whole lot more than just a number. You might want to check cards haven't been opened in your name (though that's not the only reason this could happen)

  2. People need to check their 365 licenses. Apparently Microsoft have been doing a forced upgrade (at a higher price) and including Copilot and it's possible to downgrade to the old tier with copilot removed at the old price.

  3. I couldn't get Corel Draw 4 working on a recent version of Windows. I think it failed at 7 which was a pain. VMs work well though. I switched to Inkscape anyway.

  4. I heard about that. Apparently, you can 'downgrade' to the old price if you start to cancel your subscription. I can't believe this is legal.

What seems to happen with a lot of this stuff is that they may even start out with good intentions and offer perpetual/lifetime licenses then they end up having to pay for the development of patches and upgrades but there's now not much revenue coming in, particularly as the company may be growing. This is unfortunate but I do know the answer is not to screw over your existing customers. They made a financial decision based on your promises and changing it after the fact is an asshole move and if it isn't illegal, it should be. Then you get companies like Playon which have done it twice, after promising not to do it again after the first time.

  6. I use Brave which has ad blockers and other good stuff built in. I'm sure the enshitification will be an inevitable thing but I'm hoping for a few good years.
