  1. I'd suggest the viewer isn't YouTube's customer. YouTube's customers are the content creators (who use YT for storage and broadcasting) and the advertisers (Premium purchasers being a vanishingly small fraction of the equation). As you have suggested, YT's business model is borked and a large part of that is failure to correctly identify the roles of the participants.

  2. I had an issue with Firefox where if I left a few YouTube tabs open, the browser would often be nearly unresponsive when I came back in the morning. I tried reporting it but got a "don't use it that way" response. I think the developers are more interested in making awful bars and hot-pockets. I use Brave now.

  3. Google sucks but Firefox has issues too (Remember when they dumped Communicator because it was too bloated? Yeah...). It's probably about time for a new player.
