@whuzzzup What @Segphalt said plus it's very likely standards were not what they are now when the building was built. As long as the floor is "flat enough" why worry too much (in those days)? Plus you might want to somewhat conform to the lay of the land so you don't have big steps at the front and back and you may need to conform to other buildings that are already there. We have a store with a 4" ramp halfway down and it's not a big deal. I've been in buildings in the UK where you can feel the slope under your feet change as you walk along. They call that quaint and/or rustic :)
