  1. The Prius is a hybrid that's still primarily a gas vehicle so the size of the battery pack is a bit arbitrary and will typically be smaller than a pure EV vehicle. It was originally not intended to be charged externally at all (though some people found ways to do so). Vehicles like the Volt are designed to rely more heavily on the battery.
