Comments by "Chaos Corner" (@chaos.corner) on "Blocking youtube ads is PIRACY!!!" video.
@Aliens308 YouTube got wise to that a while back and now serve the ad content from the same servers as the regular content.

If creators make it easy for me to support them directly, I'll consider doing so. If they don't, that's on them. Best options are Paypal (where you can send money as a friend for free) or crypto.

@justsomeguy5470 Merchandise is good if you want it. If you don't, give them money direct (if you can) and buy a mug from dollar tree. I'm not really interested in most YouTubers merch though LTT is doing some interesting stuff with their screwdriver and backpack (Both a bit too pricey for me but not bad in concept).

The "Piracy" thing is just name calling. I don't care. We used to swap cassette tapes full of music or games in the playground. I do throw some money to content creators every now and then, especially if they have a bitcoin address, sometimes Paypal. Superchats, I'd have to have something I really wanted to say cause 30% to Google is bullshit.

@rabywastaken Good to know. Vanced is currently still working for me (last I checked) but I know it's only a matter of time.

I used Smarttube next on the TV but my son often ends up clicking on YouTube recommendations and the ads are definitely too many and often inappropriate.

@jordanrelkey Smarttube next and Brave have options to skip promotional segments (if someone has flagged them). Brave has integrated a plugin that's also available for Chrome based browsers (SponsorBlock)

@Mr_3raqi It's integrated into Brave and SmartTubeNext.

@ShaferHart New tech sites will hopefully have a decent share of the market by then. Just dump YouTube at that point.

@JCbadminton The ads are also horribly intrusive. I know part of that is because they're automated but still annoying.

@rabywastaken revanced sounds fine. I don't have any settings worth worrying about.

@InternetKilledTV21 Having been around at the time, VCRs did face a lot of opposition. They also managed to cripple DAT.

@bomber9912 Arguably it was better when people weren't getting paid.
