  1.  @CidVeldoril  Fair comment. And on the other side, if pressure rises from the Linux side, the game devs are going to make it work because they like the money. The anti-cheat stuff might work to prevent players 'hooked' on these games from adopting Linux but on the other side of things, if people are using Linux already, how are you as a studio going to get people to try your game if you're not releasing for their platform. I'm sure Valve have some of their own pressure they can apply too.

  3.  @yulfine1688  Steam OS has browsers and all that good stuff and a desktop mode. I need a new laptop for bumming around on the couch and am considering a Steam Deck if I could work out a decent keyboard solution.

  4.  @CidVeldoril  Definitely I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying there's competing pressures going on. I can't say which will win out but it makes it more of a battle. It's worth bearing in mind that Valve sees steam on Linux as essential to its continued existence.

  8.  @tin2001  Windows wouldn't do Photoshop for a loooooooooooooooooooong time. MS had to drop a bunch of money on Adobe to convince them to do a port eventually. So app exclusivity is only mildly an issue with such niche tools, as you suggest. The success of Chromebooks really shows where most people are spending their time these days. Gaming has always been the big sticking point.
