  1.  @borandolph1267  Correct. And, in fact, to anyone paying attention at the time, it was clear that LEDs were going to catch up and overtake both CFL and incandescent and the legislation was entirely unnecessary.

  2.  @TheSilentCartographer117  I took a bunch of 8ft bulbs to the local dump for proper disposal and was told to just throw them in the crusher. We're replacing them with LEDs as they go out.

  4.  @eswing2153  I was thinking you could filter out the AC for things that needed DC and vice versa and just leave both for things that would be happy to work that way. But yeah, with modern switch mode power supplies, DC would probably be fine. Though I think there would be safety concerns.

  9. The problem wasn't so much with CFLs as them being mandated when much better LEDs were just around the corner. Mind you, the first CFL I bought was when they were fairly new and expensive and it died after a week (and it wasn't enclosed).
