None of the names are pronounced like they are spelled or have the same number of syllables you think they should have and they just sound weird once you know how to pronounce it correctly.

@Vinterfrid Apparently YOU don't get the point. The correct pronunciation of Swedish is not something that is automatically perceptible by merely looking at the words. How the name IKEA came to be mispronounced in the U.S. is a mystery in itself.

NineLivesToLive I agree, English must be a very difficult 2nd language to learn. Even native English speakers are often corrected by each other in the comments section for spelling errors, improper grammar and verb usage. Swedish is rarely heard spoken in the U.S. We even mispronounce IKEA.

@Vinterfrid No, they are not pronounced exactly as they are spelled. Obviously I don't think the world is made up of only English speakers. Swedish spelling and pronunciation are unlike French, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese Romanji. All of which I have no problem pronouncing. Swedish doesn't follow any of those rules.
