  1. American biscuits are more like a scone in texture than like bread. A flaky biscuit is the ideal. The dish they call 'biscuits and gravy" is American biscuits smothered in a cream gravy usually with cooked bits of breakfast sausage added to it.

  3.  @vrhetinst  If a muffin was made with dough instead of batter it would be a scone. A somewhat flatter version though. The dough is usually rolled out in a circle, the same thickness as biscuit dough, and cut into eighths before baking.

  4.  @vrhetinst  Yes, not overly sweet but, like I mentioned, comparable to a muffin, depending on how elaborate your ingredients are. Basic scones are made with flour, sugar, butter, eggs, milk , and baking powder. It's pretty much a crumbly sweet biscuit. Dried fruit, nuts, or additional dry ingredients like oatmeal can be used to make a variation on the basic recipe. Great served with jam at tea.
