The Chinese could weave a virtually identical carpet that would cost 5% of the original. Only a rug expert would know the difference.

@cesteres I was in the rug business for a number of years. Never once did I see any new production come on the market at that price point. Even as a completely custom made object, I doubt it would exceed the 15%-20% range and I am sceptical of the higher number even with the wage increase you claim.

@cesteres If they were to put it in production it would be outsourced. Anyone wanting a one off copy would have it made to order in China, India or Romania.
