Putting $50 million into the 2016 election has nothing to do with gun safety, member advocacy or gun owner rights. This is influence peddling pure and simple.

"A well regulated militia" meant that the state would control the use of military style weapons, not personal weapons for hunting game, defending against wild animal attacks and protection from an irrate native population. Land mines, cannon and explosive projectiles were to be issued for use by the state as needed, not amassed by hobbyists. A deer doesn't stand a chance against a marksman with a high powered rifle let alone a bazooka or a grenade launcher. The 2nd Amendment is not a carte blanche for any armament in existence. It specifically states 2 categories of weaponry and how they are to be utilized and under whose supervision they are distributed. The former, the local government; the later, the free market.

  5.  @americanrepublicanpremise3540  I must confess my ignorance, I have not read the Federalist Papers. Gun advocates consistently ignore the intent of the founders in the 2nd Amendment. That is, their approbation on reliance of the citizen soldier to defend the country and to eschew the establishment of a standing army. Something they saw as the necessary baggage of a despised monarchical system. This point is wholly ignored by present day advocates who favor limitless access to every conceivable percussive delivery system capable of launching a projectile device...bar none. What the founders neglected to take into consideration was the rapid development of a technology that had already existed unchanged for 400 years.
