  1. ​@anonymustypewriter6670 I've never seen the Sistine chapel personally, but I can tell you that seeing the dreary looking photos of the grimy ceiling in art books before the restoration was less than inspiring. No one was even aware that the original color of the architectural borders had been painted in a soft lavender, not the dingey yellow of bygone centuries. Your admiration is for the results of slow decay , not the awe inspiring concept of the original.
