Trump received 27% of the registered voters in the 2016 election. He wasn't the people's 1st choice. He is and has been an unpopular figure.

How about this: the U.S. has the lowest rate of social mobility of any Western nation. Or that 40% of the U.S. population could not navigate a $400 financial emergency. Or that the U.S. is in last place among 153 nations in election integrity. No social program could change anyone of those sad statistics.
