  1. The recycling system in America devolved into tragedy at the hands of the corrupt. Too much privatization equals no accountability. What do you think happens when you go and pick up recycling with a garbage truck that's been used for garbage you think everything's going to be ruined? Also this Paradigm of shipping most of the recycling to China? Whose brilliant idea was that? Think globally act locally for a reduced carbon footprint is a no-brainer. Globalism is stupid at the local level on certain issues and this is one of them. If you had recycling that was accountable on a daily basis then it will be accountable on an annual basis.
