I respect your honesty. I wish more woman would just tell it like it is. As a Gen x man I explain to young men NOT to marry unless you can provide. Biology hasn't changed.

@hungrybeaverontheleaver I'd luv to jump in this debate. As i understand it from observable reality, men of means are ok with losing out on providing SECURITY to lesser women. This is why In the old days the romantic pauper raised the king, Duke, Earl or Lord's bastard children. The man of means still wins. He enjoys the woman and then discards her to the romantic hence the term "white knight". This is why in modern times average men will run to store on Valentine's Day and top tier men do not even bother. The top tier men have multiple options for a wife. Lower tier must take the scraps and fight amongst themselves using romance for a wife. This is why in modern times women are turned off by "nice guys" cause they know it's the tool of the desperate

That's different in my opinion than romance. That's validation of status.

@hungrybeaverontheleaver ok. Let me explain it like this. A man's mating strategy is quantity. Given the opportunity I think most of us in this thread would love to have a harem of gorgeous fit women. Society frowns on that so even rich men don't do it (Hugh Hef was the last). So what happens now is serial monogamy . The rich man can rack up a notch count of top tier women with zero effort. When the woman becomes a liability (clingy, emotional, demanding commitment) he will gladly "lose" to a romantic nobody who will now be stuck with a depreciating asset. Do you think Tom Brady is going to remarry a 50 year old woman? His exes BF is the romantic who will be saddled with his middle aged ex wife and children.

@alexavasquez1992 I'm really happy that you eloquently brought up all of these valid points. You said something that i picked up on. "taken advantage of". This is what I tell young men and women today. Dating is NOT an even exchange. Marriage is. Romance is another word for game. The word game comes from African American street slang. Romance is game. Telling a woman what she wants to hear has always been the tool of the user. If a man has no intentions of marrying a woman he is using her for her femininity. All women will feel "taken advantage of" because there is no security to back it up. Back in the days making the wrong choice based on "romance" was life and death. Now a days the only penalty is either being used or single motherhood.

@paulharrisonadventuregearm5457 good luck with that young man

@Hellthee i agree. But as humans we have to adapt to the fact that women are never going back to the role of stay at home mom. Men have to also understand that and allow women to provide a percentage .

@skeletorlikespotatoes7846 as a full adult who is VERY qualified to have this debate i can tell you that romanticism HAD it's role in society but societies CHANGE. Would you like to return to the horse and buggy? How about the 1950s? We are not going back. You can't out romantic pookie. Adapt to societal change or become obsolete.

@skeletorlikespotatoes7846 not true. Duty honor and obligation were a thing. That no longer exists due to rampant hypergamy and social media "choice". I can tell you are young. Good luck young man.

@skeletorlikespotatoes7846 if women are telling you "i don't like romance" why would you continue with romance? Are you telling me that you think modern woman are not smart enough to know that romance is BS? Women are humans just like us. Would you want somebody romancing you?
