  1. Jimmy, you can’t figure it out, giving healthcare to part time employees is a competitive advantage for his business that keeps their turnover costs on employees lower. If everyone had healthcare his company couldn’t compete on wages for quality employees, it would be too expensive for them. They would also lose tax subsidies of 30 cents on the dollar for those healthcare expenses, and to compete would have to shell out an added 7.515% in the employer’s share of SS & Medicare plus the added employers costs for the new Medicare tax AND have to raise wages to compete. The $7 latte’s they would have to sell to keep employees happy might be a bridge too far, so they would only make $3.50 of profit on each cup of coffee after labor costs instead of $4.25 per cup.
