@mirceadraga7421 Because they have no exemption right from Schengen. The UK had and Ireland has as an EU member an exemption. With "an emergency" ie COVID, some countries without Schengen exemption rebuilt borders which are essentially illegal under the EU treaty -absent the "emergency" aka excuse.

As it currently operates, the European Union is quite similar to the United States of America's government under the Articles of Confederation in that member states could limit action by the central government, with the European Council it also has adopted the quite assanine indirect democracy of the US Senate under the current US Constitution prior to the 17th amendment which allowed for the direct election of Senators by the citizens of member states. Any proposal at this late date which enshrines representative government over direct democracy seems antithetical to freedom and justice to my way of thinking, and any agreement which strips sovereignty from member states in favor of that is troubling as it allows forces of oligarchical tyranny to consolidate power from behind the scenes in Europe has they have already done in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
