  1. I think gnome is great. I just installed it as a second desktop on Linux Mint and I use it as my main desktop environment. I modify it to look like Mac OS because I like the graphical look of Mac OS, but the launcher is great, the easy access multiple desktops are great. The keyboard accessible desktop is great overall. It is also super snappy on my computer. I don't see why anyone has a problem with Gnome. Of course being on Mint I have Nemo as an alternative to Nautilus.
