Because before the Republicans and Democrats got together to exclude Greens & Libertarians from the ballot those two parties had been putting pressure on the Democrats to enact reforms. Paid medical leave is on the books in NY. Free college at state schools is back on the books for most NYers. New York raised the minimum wage to $15/hr. NY finally gave farm workers union rights. NY has legislation that didn't get taken up this year, but which will create universal healthcare in NY if it is passed next year and with Cuomo out there is more pressure than ever to pass it, and DeBlasio as NYC's Mayor made UHC almost a reality in NYC. NY state enacted regulations to prevent NIMBY on wind and solar power. The state has been working to shutter aging nuclear plants. Should we be bringing new ones online, yes, but the NRC is the biggest impediment to that challenge. The west coast states are "blue" in name only or DINOs for the most part. I mean California despite the fake rhetoric from Hollywierd is still Reagan's California with it's property tax cap, and Outside of Portland and Seattle Oregon and Washington are as red as Alabama.

  2. Someone needs to sue in California and all these states with ballot iniative measures to protect the federal constitutional right to a republican form of government. Direct democracy is antithetical to the federal constitution and the several states are guaranteed a republican form of government by article 4 section 4. That right needs someone to sue to enforce it.
