@anacc3257 Several things.
1. The bombing of Dresden happened after Germany had effectively lost. It was not needed.
2. Every major nation on all sides of the conflict had a history of conquest. The US's "Splended Little War", British Empire, French Empire, etc.
3. World War 1 started when certain countries wanted to form their own empires just like the French and British who came before them, they were simply late to the party. The only reason the war was anything of note in Europe is due to alliances and advanced weapons. Other than that, it's business as usual for European powers.
4. The US government got involved in WW1 because of terrible trade policy. The first example of this is the Barbary Wars; merchants demanding protection from the government because they wanted to conduct trade in dangerous waters/territories instead of providing it themselves. British propaganda was also involved.
5. World War 2 was caused due to oppression of the German country which was forced to pay of the war, look up the Treaty of Versaillies. They were also banned from using steam ships and were forced to revert to clipper ships lol. It caused a lot of resentment in the country which allowed Hitler of come to power.
6. The US got involved in WW2 because FDR was breaking neutrality by going over the heads of congress and aiding China against Japan and coluding with Churchill to sanction Japanese oil which forced them to try a desperate attack aginst the US in an attempt to shock America into a quick surrender because they knew they had no hope of winning against the US in the first place due to vast the differences in Japan and American natural resources and manufacturing.
7. Every major nation on all sides of the conflict had a history of conquest. The US's "Splended Little War", British Empire, French Empire, etc.
I got all this info from World War 1&2, the Rest of the Story by Richard J. Maybury. Just google/wiki the author and books if you're actually interested, he's not the conspiritorial type.
