It was a mistake to go into Russia yes but not the greatest mistake .The greatest was to cancel the invasion of Britain ,he left a platform from which the allies would come back at him with overwhelming might and make him fight on 2 or 3 fronts being he also lost the north africa campaign .Had he waited ,all those divisions left in europe defending the atlantic wall and in Italy and beyond would have been available to bolster the sixth armies attack
