There's not one system that is perfect or without fault. In economics, there are no such thing as solutions, but instead just trade offs. Capitalism began to crumble with increase in government intervention. Poverty was not caused by capitalism, but instead it was created by the government.

@Winklist government should only play a limited role in the economy under capitalism. Their intervention is welcome when a transaction between two parties negatively affects a third party. In certain situations the government have created more monopolies than the free market through their policies. Unions for example are monopolies of the labor market in certain industries and unions are supported by the government. Most unions are operating under a seniority based system instead of a merit based system. Which is bad for workers that are more productive than other senior workers. Another example is the FDA. Through their regulations they have directly and indirectly created three of the biggest pharmaceutical corporations in the world. Government regulations only hinders economic growth because now it places extra burdon on small businesses and limit their ability compete with big corporations.

@Winklist the government created poverty through public welfare and social safety net. Inorder for them to get that money for welfare programs they have to impose a higher tax. High taxes is the one of the main problem that will destroy job creation and economic growth. If we can't create new jobs then people will always be in poverty living off of welfare and social safety net. As more people depends on social welfare, the government have to continue placing more taxes on the middle class. To a certain point the middle class will shrink and thats when a country become bankrupt. Now you have an increase number of people in poverty and this all was created by the government. The strength of a country depends on the size of the middle class. The united states have the biggest and strongest middle class in the world and this is because of capitalism.

Look at the american middle class compared to any country in the history of this world. This data you can see for yourself from many source online. If you don't know how taxes affects economics, then really you have no knowledge of economics to begin with.

No country provides more freedom then America. No country lifted more people out of poverty then America. We talking about an economic system here not an educational system.
