It is becoming pretty obvious to the Europeans now and particularly the Germans that the sanctions have spectacularly backfired. Whatever about the economic situation in Russia the situation in Europe is dire and getting worse. Food inflation, energy costs and record high interest rates are causing a world of pain to the citizens of the European Union. With both President Putin and Foreign Minister Lavrov indicating that they are not interested in negotiations and will continue with the conflict into 2025, the political situation in Europe will get out of hand. The bottom line is that Russia has all the resources it needs and any imports it needs it can get through China or other countries.
