It didn't but it also because of widespread malaria many people were already taking Hydroxychloroquine. I think along with zinc the ionophore property of Hydroxychloroquine make a very effective antiviral treatment regardless of the virus. The important matter is when treatment should begin and what the dosage should be. Many of the flawed "studies" relied on late-stage treatment which is a horrible baseline. That would be like rating any new cancer treatment on its ability to reverse late-stage cancer.
