In reality the middle doesn't exist as soon as either side feels aggression. It could just be as small as a feeling and it can go to chaos. Trying to assume or find a solution is just invalid in an iminent situation. Just as simple as a bat of an eye can just be insulting to a stranger as speaking with them.
