If you can't open the window, just wait until the car fills up with water and then it will open , when the pressure is equal on both sides. Keep your face close to the top of the car, so you can breathe. It is do-able, if you don't freak out and start chocking on the water. It's probably what she did.

  10. open the door , only when the water pressure is equal on both sides, meaning, when the car is full of water. Open manually I expect she had the doors locked. The friend who went in the water, could not open the doors, so she had them locked and by then was likely passed out. He had nothing to break the windows with.....I have a special tool for that in my glove compartment. It is a small surface sort of an impactor, you can practice with and see how it feels to trigger it, when you need it. It is a punch.
