The sub blew up when the communication stopped, so they did not suffer and that is a consolation. Better be dead than slowly suffocating. When the aunt talked to the reporter, she felt, they were running out of air, but they did not, as far as the research shows. They just blew up. The pressure was huge, down there.

  16. Well, what gave him credibility were these two passengers who were experts in the field, including subs. These 2 guys validated the trip. Surprised they did not look deeper into the structure of that sub. Many were doubtful, it could stay intact, for very long and they were right. The destructive process was already in the making.....and descending pretty fast may have exacerbated the problem. I think it is a study in the making. How many trips could it make before it blew up ? Structure fatigue ? something like that.

  18. He seemed to be a fine person and the credit of the other two passengers , would have been a major role in his decision to go. The "designer" was controversial but evidently, they thought it would work out. They seemed to be going down, really fast as it has been observed......I wonder why, they were sinking so fast ? When it was decided, they should go back up, the sub was not really responding but giving signals of issues with the sub itself. ...making cracking noises......Very scary. They knew they had problems but they never ran out of air......when the implosion occurred, it was fast and furious.. Air never seemed to have been a problem, but the structure of the sub, was. That's what we could figure out, hearing the conversation between the sub and the mother ship. They did not suffer. That is a consolation.

  19. The difference between a hero and a victim has to do with , how the survivors see the event. It is subjective. I see it as a tragic accident and a marker for other explorations, to come in the future. A sacrifice ? only works if they know, they are going to die. They were hoping, they would not.

  21. The two other passengers were experts in subs and the fact they went on that trip , gave validity to the Dawoods. They felt they were in good hands.
