I expect, that was a hint of what happens in their private lives. Right now, Ellen is on survival mode since her show has not been renewed and MM is in limbo, with all of her lies, being uncovered and making her vulnerable. So ? Ellen still has the upper hand and MM has to lick the dirt from her shoes, pretending, it is nutmeg.......A metafore here. I had something else in mind, besides dirt......
