The minimum wage should be a living wage. $7.25 an hour is not a living wage ANYWHERE in this country.

Joseph Nickels It's actually $7.25 because federal law trumps state law, so you have to go with the higher federal minimum wage in that case.

@stephanielewis5595 Do you realize that if the minimum wage were 7.25 Russian Rubles instead of $7.25, that that's the equivalent of about 10 cents an hour which would be worse than some third-world countries?

@larrynix4977 I never said that. What I said was that there's not a single place in the United States where one can live off of $7.25 per hour. Tell me how one is supposed to pay their rent or mortgage, utilities, food, and all their other bills with only $7.25 an hour. A 40 hour a week job with that wage is a little more than $1,000 a month. It's not enough.
