It isn't, and had Trump mounted a competent response, he'd have a better chance at winning re-election, and the death count would be much lower. Here are some theories as to why they believe that 180,000+ deaths are okay: 1: They believe that the virus is a hoax and isn't real. 2: They believe that Trump's response is good and that he prevented tons of deaths. 3: They believe that Democrats manufactured the virus in a lab to hurt Trump. P.S. Here's some context. When Obama was in office, we avoided two pandemics. About a decade ago, the swine flu killed 12,000 in the United States, and six years ago, Ebola killed two people, neither of which got it from someone in the United States. With Trump in office, he made COVID-19 so much worse.

Trump's response was TERRIBLE. He could've sealed his re-election and gotten the death count a lot lower had he mounted a unified and coordinated national response which we needed. Instead, we got a 50 state hodgepodge. We needed the following: use of the Defense Production Act to force companies to produce needed medical supplies, $2,000 a month to everyone, ban on evictions and foreclosures due to COVID-19 with the government paying mortgage companies and landlords and mandating that the money go towards unpaid rents and mortgages, a national mask order, and closure of all non-essential businesses in March. Had we done those things, the death count would've been a lot lower, and the economy would be better off, and we could've now been at the point where we might have been able to reopen safely.
