Good. Voting rights MUST be addressed, and we also need statehood for DC and Puerto Rico so that they too also have representation in our government.

Both DC and Puerto Rico should be states.

@brentfellers9632 If they had electoral votes and representation in Congress, I believe that Hurricane Maria would've been handled better.

@brentfellers9632 I agree that Puerto Rico's current status isn't working. However, a majority did vote for statehood last year, and I don't think that Trump would've thrown paper towels after Hurricane Maria if they could vote, and if they had representation in Congress, then their representatives and senators could've pushed for more relief, and it would've been handled better.

@SnakeWasRight It can't be properly exercised with blatantly unconstitutional poll taxes (like Florida did), only having one day to cast your vote in some states and having to do it in person, having registration deadlines a month before the election when interest can peak in the few weeks right before, and not even allowing some people to have representation in Congress (DC and the territories).

Taxation is constitutional while slavery isn't, and the government can't function without taxes as the Articles of Confederation proved. What I have a problem with is taxation without representation, which we are doing to residents of Washington, D.C., by forcing them to pay income taxes while not giving them voting representation in Congress.

@SnakeWasRight In some states, a valid excuse is required to vote by mail, and in some states, you can only vote on Election Day. For instance, if one has to work all day on Election Day, and there's no early voting, and the list of excuses to vote by mail in their state doesn't cover working all day as an excuse, then they can't vote.
