  1. I’m fairly progressive on the issues, but progressives running on “defund the police” was a mistake. It should’ve been “reform the police.”

  2.  @StonewallCoop  People do not what defund means as they think it means police won’t be there when your house gets robbed. You can’t run on that for that reason. You need the right kinds of reforms, and then you will see a drastic reduction in police violence. I propose ending qualified immunity, banning no-knock warrants, training officers to de-escalate, mandatory body cameras, and ending the war on drugs. These reforms that I propose would be able to get widespread support and would substantially decrease police brutality.

  3.  @stephanielewis5595  This isn’t about that. Defund the police probably costed Democrats some House and Senate seats and was a disaster. Police reform needs to happen, but it was marketed badly.

  4. Defund was a disaster. People don’t know what it means, and reform the police would’ve been better and gotten more people behind the issue. We had the perfect opportunity after George Floyd, but we squandered it with defund the police.

  5. Defund the police was the worst political slogan I’ve EVER heard. Reform the police should’ve been the slogan.

  6. I agree. One mistake was “defund the police.” The slogan “reform the police” should’ve been used instead.
