Honestly it breaks my heart. I'm a Nintendo gamer and for the first time since PS5 and XBSX came out there finally were two games, coming out this year, for each platform, that made an appeal to me. Final Fantasy XVI, theoretically taking advantage of the PS5 to make FF summons playable I believe for the first in the mainline series since before I was even born. The Eikon-on-Eikon (or whatever they're called) combat is just a basic disappointment bringing nothing knew that hasn't been played before, and quite frankly so seems the regular battle system. For Starfield, people were complaining about the graphics, but coming from Nintendo and assuming the game to be (as advertised) entirely open-world I was cool with it. (Not to mention the gigantic file size made that advertisement even more believable.) But now we find out they lied about the game being open-world, just like Game Freak "lied" about Pokémon Legends Arceus being open-world. ("Lied" because they careful never used the word "open-world" in any press release.)
I thought Microsoft buying Bethesda meant Bethesda now had all the money in the world to make games great. To make games epic. To advance gaming in a way only the richest have the means to do. But nope. This is 2023, and good gaming is still not a priority for Microsoft, and neither is console gaming for a Sony that's phasing out exclusivity for their own first-party titles. So with Nintendo having no incentive to join this shit show in the near future, this is going to be some very boring years upcoming in the new-generation arena.
