  5.  @petelattimer6808  I think that you are correct. It was always stressed that he was Greek – but as you say, he was from German/Austrian heritage/background. It was emphasised that he went to Gordonstoun private (Public) school. However, like many of our so-called heroes, such as Winston Churchill, the truth has been airbrushed out of history. I do not believe what I am told much of the time, unless I do my own research. I know that many aspects of the “British“ royal family were Nazi sympathisers and that Hitler did not want to attack us, because he knew that our royalty was in fact German and not English/British. That is something that we have been led to believe for many generations, although it is not generally true. I think it was George I that was German and could speak no word of English at all.
