Anecdotes, anecdotes, anecdotes. When there is a proper trial showing it is efficacious then fine, but at the moment there is no such evidence. Go to the Cochrane site, who summarise all of the trials. There have been dozens and dozens of (mostly poor) trials, and there is no evidence to support its use for Covid.

Japan is suffering high levels of Covid at the moment: a 6th wave. I-tin proponents seem to ignore this whenever it happens....like they insist we should have followed Sweden's protocols, but fail to mention Sweden's Covid death rate is 4 to 7 times as high as its neighbours.

@peterholt4806 The fact is that I-tin has failed to show efficacy in dozens of studies, and there have been some poor and indeed fraudulent studies which have shown it working. There hasn't been a decent double blind randomised study that has reported any findings. So, for the life of me, I can't understand why a drug should be getting such hype from the usual suspects when there is nothing to suggest it works.......and yet these same people will do anything to resist vaccinations despite overwhelming evidence they do work. It's almost as if evidence means nothing to them.

No, we DON'T know it works. There have been dozens of trials, and they haven't substantiated it as having any efficacy whatever. Go to Cochrane for a summary of the trials.

@veganath It's a dreadful study. Self-selecting and self-reporting do not make a proper study. There was no double blinding or randomisation. Complete crap. The worst that could happen is that people take Ivermectin instead of getting vaccinated, and millions more die unnecessarily as a result. That's all.

@billmoore3872 The facts, hey? Neither ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine have any evidence whatever in support of their use against covid. In fact the latter produced worse outcomes than having no intervention at all when it was clinically trialled. Vitamins are only an issue at the margins, and only relevant if you have a deficiency. How about another fact: the unvaccinated have been dying of covid at 32 times the rate of the vaccinated. So, does your favourite nurse count those as facts? If not, why not? (Hint..snake oil, and Youtube hits).

For those anti-vaxxers who found that sentence difficult to follow, it means that the intelligent got vaccinated, and the less intelligent didn't. There's a ton of science on that, if you want to check.

You make too many ill-informed and false throw-away comments. Today's example was "we have natural immunity to every other type of pathogen". This sort of false statement is taken by anti-vaxxers and used out of context to further their nonsense. Could you please make sure you revisit this in your next video and correct yourself. As you well know, there are pathogens we have or had no immunity to (Marburg, Ebola, HIV, BSE and on and on.....), and pathogens which we don't even know exist. Please try to avoid making these silly mistakes, as lots of people seem to follow you. You might also re-iterate that acquiring natural immunity to a novel pathogen means catching the disease, and the next one along might not have a mortality rate of less than 2%.

Without vaccinations, the death rate from covid was about 1.6%. Multiply the population of Britain (65 million) by 1.6% and you get approximately 1 million. That's one million deaths if we had relied on natural immunity alone. One million....that's the population of Birmingham....... dead. You anti-vaxxers conveniently forget your maths and logic when it comes to covid. You've got the luxury of whittering on about natural immunity only because of the vaccines. In games theory, you are the cheats, riding on the coat-tails of those who have protected themselves and the communuity by getting vaccinated.

@Adam-sj9bk Yes, I am entirely certain. Vaccines are entirely out of the body within 14 days. Their only long-lasting effect is the preparation of the immune system to recognise a novel pathogen. And what makes me smarter than anti-vaxxers? That's easy. I read the science, and I understand the statistics. There's good reason why vaccine uptake correlates extremely well with educational achievement.....so anti-vaxxers are generally from the lower end of the intelligence distribution. It's too early for the government to say the stuff you want them to say. It's OK for a pundit on Youtube to be wrong (I'm not saying he is), but the government has to be far more certain about the figures before it can make big statements. You will see them alter their position over the next week or two as the figures firm up, though.

Genome testing is how variants are detected. There has to be a decent level of genome testing otherwise we'll miss the emergence of new variants......and yes, there will be more variants after Omicron.

@landonjackson3064 There are a number of low quality studies, some of which were clearly falsified (copy pasted identifiers and results for instance). There are no double blinded randomised trials published as far as I know, and until or unless there are, there is no way of justifying support for this drug for treating covid. I'll be the first to cheer if any such evidence comes along, but so far, it doesn't exist.

Without vaccines, to have acquired natural immunity across the UK would have involved hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths. With a death rate of 1.6% in an unvaccinated population, that's a million dead in Britain (1.6% of 65 million). If that's OK for you guys, then you're sociopaths.

The original virus, and the alpha and delta variants could not be described as a mild virus, as the millions of dead around the world attest. If we had had no previous versions and Omicron emerged now, then no, I don't we wouldn't be bothering to vaccinate.

Yes, I looked a the studies. They're low grade, self-selecting, self-reporting studies, with no double blinding, no control group with placebos, and no randomisation. Sure, they give a hint that it might be worthwhile doing a proper clinical trial, but no more than that. There is no way on this planet that anyone with any knowledge of public health is going to look at low quality work like that and adjust their policies as a result. I'll be the first to cheer if this drug is ever proved effective against covid, but there are over 30 published studies so far, and absolutely nothing whatever conclusive has been shown.

@Pure Breed Don't be silly. Flu, bird flu and various other viruses fluctuate in strength from year to year. Some years they are incredibly mild. Some years they kill millions (1918, for instance). There is nothing to say that viruses only get milder.

I was merely pointing this out, although I shouldn't have to as it is so obvious. Thos saying that omicron is the effective end of Covid might be right, but they might not, as it is perfectly possible that a vartiant could emerge which pushes Omicron out as fast as it came in, and that new variant might easily be just as dangerous as Delta.

The polio vaccine does produce a very small number of cases of polio.....3 in a million, but you need to compare that with the 5,000 cases per million that were otherwise occuring in outbreak areas. You vaccine sceptics always present just half the story, and should be ashamed of yourselves. Your first link doesn't work, and your second produced security alerts. At that stage it would be great to see a reduction in the public health measures in place. I posted another link earlier with precisely the same summary: the PCR test only picks up covid (and does that very well)....and they're proposing a replacement which detects covid, flu, and another respiratory illness. There has never been any inaccuracy in the PCR test, and it has never counted flu as covid, but the new test will simply be a one-stop-shop for any respiratory disease. It's unimaginable to me how something that simple could be twisted into something bizarre about falsely including flu in covid results.

This is one of the most backward places on the planet. See if you can find out how many people died of rabies in Angola in any particular year. Or malaria. I worked on some of the early sea temperature analysis in the late 70s which even back then, before computers and satellites, showed that the planet was warming substantially. There isn't the slightest doubt about the science. In fact, there is probably more doubt about gravity than about climate change.

It is nothing to do with herd mentality (the very opposite is what drives science: extreme competitiveness). It's all about the numbers, as it is with vaccines and covid. Glaciers melting could possibly lead to an ice age around the north Atlantic, but that won't change the planet-wide problem of over-heating. There's a reason it's called climate change rather than the old-fashioned global warming. Now, as far as evolution is concerned, if you are a creationist, you don't have any right to open you mouth on any scientific subject.

Anyway, there has been no clinical trial which has shown efficacy of ivermectin. There have been some fraudulanet trials published, with lots of copy-pasta, and there have been a lot of small poorly conducted trials using self-reporting and self-selection, without any control group, and without any blinding or randomisation. The statistical work has been universally appalling. There hasn't been a single large double blinded randomised trial published. So, at the moment, ivermectin for covid has zero........zero........evidence in support. I'll be the first to cheer if a proper trial ever shows it works, but at the moment, it is snake oil.

We were told it made us much safer, but "efficacy of 90%" (as we were often told) means a 10% failure rate. Anyway, none of that is my beef. What disturbs me are the people who say "X, Y or Z died, and they were vaccinated.....so don't get vaccinated". They're the people who are dying of covid at 32 times the rate of the vaccinated.
