The reason the sane world is giving weapons to Ukraine is because we live with evil on our very doorstep, and if we just let them invade one of our friends, we'll be next. Your view of USA giving orders is childish and idiotic. Think of the number of times countries have refused to get involved in American wars. No European nations fought in Vietnam, for instance. Most of Europe opposed the second Iraq war. There is nothing Russophobic about being against an illegal and unjustifiable invasion. Seeking peace.........when one side is 100% wrong, and one side is 100% right. India wrongly chooses to frame this as a 50/50 thing. If Pakistan invaded Kashmir, you'd expect the rest of the world to support your right to defend yourself, and you'd expect any sanctions against Pakistan to be observed by everyone.

The Dutch don't follow US orders. That really shows your ignorance. Yes, India has an independant foerign policy, but you've got this one 100% wrong. You are tacitly supporting an illegal invasion. If Pakistan invades Kashmir, you'd expect the rest of the world to join in whatever actions are deemed necessary to persuade them to get out. It's precisly the same thing now with Russia invading Ukraine.

They are simply Russian lies. Russia invaded in 2014, after setting up its proxies in Donbas to give it a pretext. And look, here's the thing. Even if every single one of those lies Russia told was true, they would still have no right whatsoever to roll their tanks over the border. None. What goes on in a sovereign country is absolutely nothing to do with them, or anyone else. Would inter-communal rioting and a massacre of Muslims, as happens now and then in India, give Pakistan the right to invade the country and try to topple the government? Of course not. It is illegal (12 years in prison) to call this invasion anything other than a Special Military Operation). It is illegal to show footage of Russian action against civilian targets. It is illegal to show any successful attacks against Russia troops. Now, given that there is a free press in the west to report whatever they want, why the hell would you believe the bullshit that comes out of Moscow?

@waldensmith4796 Yep, once Russia started building up troops on the border, diplomacy tried everything they'd got to stop them carrying out an illegal and unjustified invasion. It failed. It is no business of Russia who Ukraine makes friends with, so I'm not sure what your point is.

@waldensmith4796 No. I simply don't agree. Russia launched an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine for the 3rd time in 8 years. The only solution is for them to accept the right of all their neighbours to live peacefully within their borders.And just letting them get on with unopposed is ridiculous. Ukraine has every right to defend itself, and the only escalation involved was when Russia poured 120,000 men across the border.

The Ukrainians have been invaded without any justification. The ansswer isn't to say "let's work towards peace".......the answer to Russia is "get out, now". Fortunately, the Ukrainians are ignoring your weasle words, and are getting on with the job of kicking the invaders out. Russia will be lucky to leave this war with the Crimea still under their control. They'll lose the Donbass.

It has miscalculated what its interests are, though. It is tacitly backing an illegal invasion, and when Russia loses the war India is going to be left looking pretty stupid. We won't forget this in a hurry. So buying a bit of cheap oil might help your balance sheet this year, but supporting a dictators illegal invasion of a peaceful neighbour is not going to be in your long-term interests. What you expect the world to do if Pakistan were to invade Kashmir?

@fsxmantra I said long term. In 5 years time, after Russia has lost this war, India will be suffering for supporting an illegal invasion, and for having a military based on old Soviet equipment. Russia won't be able to supply you any more because they'll need years of manufacturing to replace all they've lost.

But you ARE choosing a side: Russia. It's really simple........Russia has illegally and unjustifiably invaded a neighbour, and the rest of the world has said no, you shouldn't be doing that. India has said "sell us some cheap oil". If Pakistan invaded Kashmir, you'd rightly expect the world to boycott Pakistani exports and pressurise them into withdrawing. You'd be pretty annoyed if the UAE, for instance, then said "we'll buy all your copper".

The huge difference is that that war was legal. There was a UN resolution allowing it. It was a war I profoundly disagreed with, and protested against, but it was legal. Just rolling your tanks into a neighbouring country is a very different thing. Imagine if Pakistan invaded Kashmir.......
