  3.  @lindatannock  European nations are tiny compared to the US.. its a 30 minute drive to the train station where i live.. I guess you could take a bus to the train if you want to walk a few miles to the bus stop… my point is public transportation options arent necessarily an indicator of how great your country is.. the amount of sprawl in the US makes a national public transport system completely unfeasible for like a quarter of the population.. Germany for example is 2 times smaller than Texas alone.. China is massive as well of course, but they are also literally demolishing peoples rural homes and forcing them to move into urban areas, so…

Again, mass transit in a country with billions of people makes sense, and doesnt make sense for most of the US… East coast, Texas megalopolis, and West coast are only places it makes sense to have high speed rail. Nobody needs to get to or from anywhere in Alabama, Mississippi, Kansas, Oklahoma, etc. on a 375mph train.

  8.  @qsqqjx  lol… the USA simply doesnt have the population density in enough areas to justify a nationwide high speed rail system… It would make zero sense… thats not shallow its just realistic.. China has 6.5x the population density as the US has in our most densely populated area..
