  1. The WERE the chosen people. They were chosen because at the time they were so spiritually inclined that they were the easiest to communicate with. But we all know how that ended...God is always looking for someone that can perceive and understand Him, at the time it was them. But it could have been any group or tribe of people, it wasn't set in stone forever. Also, the ones that occupy that area today are not the same ones who did 2000 years ago.
