Back then, many historical sites were destroyed even by abbasid caliphs to expand the most for the ever growing muslim population, and as populations boomed after the 20th century, it was more than necessary, the mosques are built for pilgrims, not tourists. Saying that you care about historical sites to not be destroyed, is letting hundreds of millions of pilgrims to suffer, while they could've done it comfortably. And finally, most of these historical sites have no religious significance in the first place. And about your question on knowing how leaders didn't change the religion, is easy, just look at the old quran manuscripts in Birmingham, Istanbul and yemen, they are very old, spread throughout the world and have the same thing written on them as the current qurans in the world. @ihl0700677525 everything revolves around monotheism in islam. According to Islam, anyone who distorts Islam should be severely punished, even sometimes until execution. This is how peoples preserve their faith. This is why we muslims, unlike Christians, have only one quran, one in one only God, one legislative and judiciary laws, and so on. If you don't care about our religion, why are you here? It's our religion and our responsibility, you have nothing to do with it.

How stupid, makkah is for pilgrimage, we need a city that can accommodate millions a day, not photograph takers. Hundreds of millions, if not billions of muslims wish to come here, making it as large, developed and comfortable as possible is the best way to serve the pilgrims

Third, mecca is mountainous, old, dense and hard to build on, it just makes common sense to build after demolishing old buildings Forth, most of these buildings are not significant in islam, is a market or a house sacred to you? Fifth, they did it after taking permission from the property owners because it's haram to build a mosque on a stolen property

They pay for construction, security, linguistics, services, teachings, providing free food and water, hygiene, electricity, expansion, technological developments in the mosque, trains, roads, beautification, and so on. Do you know why they did it? Because it took a lot of space that is used by pilgrims nowadays. Imagine the mosque being small, underdeveloped, uncomfortable and unreliably built as it was before. Don't hear it from a western perspective, but from an Islamic one, if you are a real Muslim

But let me tell you something, It's not only saudi arabia, but also the abbasid and ottoman empires destroyed many meccan structures because they are not islamically significant, can be used by criminals or that it holds areas of lands can be occupied by the ever growing numbers of pilgrims coming every year, from around the world. @موسى_7 calling "ya Ali, madad" is agreed among most ahl al sunnah (al jama'a) to be shirk. While there are many haram and bidaa things things shias consider halal/mubah, mahmud (praised/preferred) or wajib (obligatory), that aren't in islam, this effectively make them go against Islam
