  1. I want to remind the audience that Turkey/Ottoman empire was forced into WW1 by the reformist secularists who declared it, the sultan was just a constitutional monarch with no authority. The greatest success and failure of the Ottoman Empire were the janissaries. Only if the ottomans smartly replaced the janissaries, maybe by reducing their numbers and stopping all new recruitments, IN EXCHANGE for higher pays and pensions. Or by pushing the janissaries into some battle on Russia, which'd annihilate the janissaries at huge cost for the russians, thus allowing the ottomans to reform. Sadly, history doesn't have a 2nd attempt
