  1. I can't understand why Europeans didn't use the south Russian territory to travel to India, china, Persia and the other way to the ottoman empire through the Caucasus.

  2.  @davidjoelsson4929  they could have gone in caravans and of course paid the Russian government taxes to secure them, which is what most governments did at the time
