  1. Harry Tuttle-- You are soooo right. The Kopechne parents were paid off by the Kennedy family. Go to the Poconos in PA--the Kopechne parents have a lovely home there (which they did not have BEFORE their daughter was murdered). Mary Jo Kopechne's body was found struggling for air--there were claw marks from her fingernails in the cloth ceiling of Teddy Kennedy's car. EVERYTHING about this case stinks of collusion, corruption, and catering to the Kennedy money. Ted Kennedy was DRUNK--and he slept it off before going for help the next day. People of Taxachusetts think the Kennedy family are gods and, when Ted Kennedy aired his version of the tale on national TV, I (as a young adult at the time) could not believe how many people swallowed this pack of lies.

So, Sean...here are so facts you were apparently either too lazy or too dazed by the Kennedy hype to look up yourself. Kennedy returned to the party after Kopechne was driven into the water. Kennedy lay down in the grass for a time before requesting help. Kophechne's body was flown off the island before an autopsy could be conducted. Her PARENTS filed a petition preventing an autopsy, which would have indicated a pregnancy or proved drowning.
