So more like a marriage of convenience, for political reasons, right? This kind of union works pretty smoothly when ALL state members are of the same economical and financial caliber so no need to subsidize any poor state member but when you start accepting new members that cannot match-up the power of the old members, that's when big problems start showing-up. EU is very good for the poor members fully subsidized by the powerful ones. In Toronto all supermarkets show prices in lbs & kilos.

I fully agree, that's why you badly need some very honest and unbiased news media, personally I don't think BBC is that honest media to tell its viewers all about the good the bad and the ugly EU. And from Euronews (funded by EUnion), not in a million years. EU (the euro zone) should never accept new members until those new economies are able to fully stay on their own feet competing with the rest of EU and world w/o any EU bailout money like the now-famous GR case.

Q from CDA: Why EU is so much in love with GR? As I see it, they will die to see GR never leave EU (Union and/or Euro Zone), this ridiculous show has become like a bad circus, most of EU would be way better-off w/o ANY poor country like GR as a EU member. Glad that CDA has openly refused the official call (from EU Commission) to contribute big money to the GR bailout.

You're right, more like a forced marriage but you the know, each country had its own say on the EU issue (membership), pretty much a referendum in each country, right? and pretty much everywhere ppl said yes to EU, right? so not much of a forced marriage when all was done democratically, right? That all has proven to be a big fiasco, YES, EU cannot work in its current formation, but initially each state member had pretty high expectations on the successful outcome of the EU & EUZone, right?
