  1. In Germany, we have a similar discussion, but we think that skilled workers prefer the UK over Germany due to the language barrier. Not many speak German, but almost everyone knows at least a bit of English. English speaking countries might not realize it, but this gives their economies a big advantage since they don't have to train their workforce in a foreign language. They save a lot of time, money, and years of study that others have to go through. People can start using their skills right away from day one.

  2. I think the straight forward approach to prevent migration is to stop bombing countries, pulling the rug under their feet by sending out industrial fish trawlers into their waters, and by letting them protect their national markets (e.g. abolish the Investor-state dispute settlement).
