  9. If they do they get slamed with sanctions and poor credit ratings due to uncooperative behaviour. There have been attempts for bettering the conditions of child workers in Ghanaian gold mines but the European and US mine owners are protected by their respective states and their international organizations decide in their favor. Anything that would threaten their bottom-line is contested. Add to this state sponsored corruption by various business entities sometimes barely disguises as "development aid". Just imagine fleets of Senegalese fish trawlers fishing in international waters outside of Spanish waters, the outcry and push-back would be immediately. Unfortunately this is how the world is set up. International law and trade regulation operate much like the drug trade, they know neither moral nor mercy.
