The UK fisticuffs with the EU always were about the UK being more capitalist laissez-faire than the rest of the EU. And it's not just in the UK... it's about balkanizing the world and having small countries like baronies fighting each other at the game of who will offer the lowest taxes on the rich, lowest regulations on corporations and less security for workers. A game Russia is also playing because, sadly, it has all to win from alliances it's not part of being destroyed. As a seller of natural resources allied with China, Russia can not suffer of that too much for a while.   54. The path for progressives inside the dem party doesn't need to lead to a graveyard... all they have to do is focus on UBI. IF they go with the billion ways of taking people's money and then evaporating it by buying buildings (hello contracts for the friends), filling them with civil servants, managers, super manager, super super managers, czars (hello jobs for the boys), accountants, accounting managers and directors, financiers, financier managers and directors, lawyers, lawyer managers and directors, IT, IT managers and directors and then, they end up with the leftover distributed based on political needs and whims of civil servants, then all they are doing is making people poorer. Meanwhile, the establishment will be printing money because they like inflation and want to force people to buy the shares owned by the rich. Together, they make you poor and there is ZERO reason for them to be successfully politically. Meanwhile, UBI is non tribal, non ideological and actually creates a REAL safety net and REALLY raises people's income.

I hate recognizing it but even Carlson looks very good in this one. If "conservatives" stop being dildoes focused on scapegoats, they can get to see the actual problems. Maybe the horrors piling up will end up with the US people working together to face the actual problems they face. And that will help the EU countries (I live in Belgium) because we are facing those problems too although we don't have the tuition debts and our healthcare is 2 to 3 times less costly, but we have more unemployment and face large deficits while having troubles providing resources and meaning to the lives of our less skilled workers and higher skilled ones that have messed up one way or another. We (the West) have lost our way and China knows that while it has pushed MASSIVE amount of their people over the poverty line, they will face those same problems if they get there. I'm a globalist because I don't believe in this balkanization of countries pegging them against each other and pushing them towards social dumping to attract/keep investors. We need new rules and we need to genuinely cooperate. I care not if someone is Chinese, "American", "European", Russian and so on and I certainly don't care about wasting resources, energy, wealth and happiness just to "dominate" or whatever.
