@Kevin Wayne "EVERYONE knows this. That's why many say we need a jobs program"... nobody focused on results believes in that FJG. And if you poo-poo money in the hands of the poor and middle class in the name of inflation, then, well, what's the point in guaranteeing them a job? Or that wouldn't create inflation because... magic? And yes, his UBI would spare money from welfare because it would put plenty people over the poverty line and same for that pie in the sky FJG, 15 min, whatever. Yang's FD is the most progressive policy proposed those last 40 years.

@Kevin Wayne tell me the establishment isn't paying you for such low quality arguments?

Yang is not an ideologue and so, he's not a libertarian. He's a mix of a progressive, a libertarian and a bunch of other stuff. Also, at one point, you have to let go of that regressive financing thingy... if you take from the rich and give it to the poor and middle class, that can not be called regressive. And his UBI would be a bigger wage raise than the 15 min considering that only grows by 1 per year which means it would take 6 years to get to his UBI level... for people that had room for that 6 and were full time and wouldn't loose their job inbetween or be recasted as gig people to avoid that min wage... and that's if the min wage wasn't simply automated because of that cost raise... basically, nobody would get a bigger income boost from 15 min instead of his UBI. Progressives need to focus on results. I do support Yang going on the JDS though. Yang would bring real change.

gespilk aww look, the guy that wants people to keep dying in the streets, their car, trailer parks and ghettos is still copy-pasting his third rate bollocks... how quaint. I hope the establishment ain't paying you for such low work quality.
1
gespilk yes, the establishment has noted that you are working overtime to try and keep the poor poor and have the middle class go extinct. They should feed on ideology, tribalism and stupid arguments, apparently.
1
gespilk naah. You're a troll defending the status quo.
1
gespilk yah, so basically, the only UBI you want is one paid through by wealth taxes... which have never worked in any country. So your definition of sustainable is 'that would fail the first year". VAT is used through the world and is a very sustainable financing. Also, VAT is only a third of the financing of Yang's FD. So, you are doing all you can to stop the most progressive policy ever in the US in the name of a bogus argument.
1
gespilk poverty is a lack of wealth indeed (you're learning, good) and FD would redistribute 10% of GDP every year. Meanwhile, you and your candidate redistribute ideology and tribalism and last I checked, that doesn't fix any lack of wealth problems. And consumption is the easiest and most reliable to tax while wealth taxes have NEVER, EVER, worked, ANYWHERE. But who cares, right? Who cares if people are dying... what is important is stupid ideological battles and standing all smug using words like regressive, hey? Apparently, progressive has become a synonym for fake.
1
gespilk "a proper" wealth taxe... WTF are you smoking? I guess we should go for trickle-down then because someone could say that there's never been a "proper" one?
1
gespilk there is no "real" ubi. There is ONE UBI and it's FD. Your guy prefers BS jobs to UBI. And there is NO reason for FD to fail. None. Repeating the same poor claims that a great, very reliable way of financing a third of it should be replace by a very unreliable way or it would fail for some magical reason is not a reasonable argument.

Yang is head and shoulders above the rest and the first one that could actually bring real positive transformation.
