The major tech companies have DEI efforts that attempt to fix this (mainly to improve the public image of their brand and avoid and lawsuits). These major tech companies do give consistent pay and in fact have been known to give women slightly higher pay. For joe schmoe other companies that no one wants to work at, there definitely will be more racial bias. Firstly no one wants to work there especially minorities. Secondly they likely don’t need DEI effort as no one recognized them as a brand. Successful tech companies want more talented engineers regardless of race because their worker bees who produce a shit ton of revenues I’ve had plenty of black engineer coworkers in all my jobs. Very talented and well paid. The solution to increase more black folk in STEAM jobs is to help improve communities from within. Too many black communities are obsessed with side hustles, acting, music, or sports as the only path. This is similar to how Asian communities believe math/science is their only path. What makes it worse is governments will not fund black communities as it will help educate them and imbalance political power.
