@michaelmann8800 American isnt perfect but its the best at what alot of people want the country to be. They dont want america to be like European countries, these people dont want homogeneity they want the opposite infact. Money funding elections wouldnt be a problem if the government didnt have so much power over peoples lives, so as long as the government has this power money can and should effect elections.

@AGENTOFDARWIN The power is ALREADY in the hands of a few... Thats what the government is a few people having power over the entire country. So basically what your complaining about is that the ones who have the power you dont like. Thus if you remove the ability for the federal government to exercise that power over the entire country special interest groups wouldn't be able to effect the entire country. States would only have control over themselves as it should be.

@randor7969 No one is suppose to have that power... But if you really for some reason do want someone to have that power it should go to the individual states to exercise it as they see fit instead of a one size fits all approach.

Now imagine how you would feel if you have 60 times the people living in your country, and those people were from all the other nations in the European union and had influence over your life. Thats basically whats happening in the US right now.

@zackbobby5550 It doesnt matter what SOME people want. The US isnt like those countries for a reason and was never meant to be. It is IDIOTIC to try and force systems from one country into another VASTLY different country and expect them to work the same. If people like those countries so much they should simply leave the US and move to those countries. Those countries do not have better rights, they no not have better economies, their income level is much lower compared to the highest level earners in the US, social services arent suppose to be a thing in america so thats irrelevent, who the fuck cares if some parts of the US dont have clean water... Do you not under stand how much bigger the US is compared to those countries? A vast majority of the US does have clean water and the places that don't just use other sources of water. And who gives a fuck about public transport, again do you not know how fucking massive the US is compared to those countries? Public transport DOESNT WORK for a country like the US. They aren't completly different countries, you are comparing appels and oranges. Literally all of the problems the US has right now is due to trying to copy things from other countrys that dont fit the purpose of the US.

@randor7969 You do realize that the only reason company's have been able to accumulate so much power is BEUCASE of government right? Without government interference such as, subsidies, lawsuit protections, and corporate bailouts the power a company has CANNOT be maintained. literally the only way it can be maintained is by utilizing the sanctioned violence of the government that companies cannot utilize on their own themselves. Other wise companies would naturally be constantly trying to over throw one another as they SHOULD in a free market economy... Fuck that globalism bs, humans BY NATURE are isolated tribes. No human alive lives in the entire world they live in a tiny tiny part of it and are only responsible for that tiny part of it. Breaking apart into tribes is natural, we are SUPPOSE to break into tribes once one tribe gets to big. Humans aren't just one collective hive mind who all have the same goals and benefit from the same things. "Some responsibilities are worth handling at a state or local level" no, handing over responsibilities to state and local levels should be the DEFAULT. The EXCEPTION should be what responsibilities are worth handing over to the federal government. You have it completely backwards. The US isnt and never suppose to be a full on democracy, it's a constitutional republic, meaning certain moral values are immutable as line out in the constitution and bill of rights. Complete democracy is horrible, its just mob rule.

Freedom and democracy aren't the same thing. The united states prides itself as being the most free country in the world but not the most democratic. It was never meant to be completely democratic, we lean more towards being a republic than a democracy. When it comes to freedom indexes they are not accurate when it comes to representing how much "freedom" a country allows its citizens, considering they have a myriad of different standard for freedom. The freedom index measure things like free college and free health care as "freedoms" when those are not what freedoms are, those are privileges'. Where as it still gives high marks to countrys that severely curtail peoples right to free speech. Freedoms is the ability for an individual in a country to do what they want without the government bearing down on them and in America as a country leads the world in that. In regards to money in politics can you really blame people for that? It use to be that trying to buy and bribe politicians in power with money was basically worthless as they didnt have the power to actually do anything that could influence things on that kind of level but ever since we have given the government more power and control over peoples lives. Of course things like lobbying are going to become more prevalent, as they should since people dont WANT government interfering in their lives and will do what they can to make sure they can keep their freedom. When it comes to different voting systems I feel like the more complicated you make voting the less voter turn out you get but thats just an assumption. Also lets not forget, a vast majority of the countries that have high voter turnouts and high "democracy" rates have MUCH smaller population sizes than in the united states so obviously people there are going to feel like their votes matter more because their votes ACTUALLY DO matter more, up to 60 TIMES more infact. Try to imagine how much people would feel like their votes mattered in those countries if literally ALL of the nations in the European union were 1 country and had to vote for things that effect each other, do you still think their democracy scores would be as high even by their own standards? That they would keep their high voter turn out rate? Because I seriously doubt they would, and thats what its like in the US. The electoral college as a pivotal part of the US voting system and voting would become much worse as it descend into basically mob rule and civil war. Jerry mandering is pretty awful though.

Good video btw nuanced and respectful

@UsenameTakenWasTaken States could literally not federally enforce their ideas if the federal government didn't have the power to interfere with the individual states. Anyone who advocates for the federal government having MORE power is just an authoritarian with a superiority complex.
