pete best I mean chances are your the one stuck at a menial repetitive job that pays so poorly that a machine could do better. Makes you kind of a robot.

Its because company's are intentionally hampering themselves in the name of being compassionate by not replacing their workers with machines. But this ends up meaning that the people have to work as hard or ever harder than machines to do a similar amount of work. Really should just be letting things become automated, no need point in stifling progress.

Its not the tool its the people using them. We just weren't ready for something like this. its like a gun, it can be used for good or bad. Honestly these same things probably would have happened with or without Facebook, it just would have just been harder. The mistakes have to be made so that we learn in the future.

well... you can clearly see the partisanship on this topic. Despite claims of wanting unity in the beginning. Quite hypocritical.

Ah that's good.

@erickeller162 Oh ? so you aren't constantly using things like twitter youtube and facebook ? Then whats the problem ? If you aren't using them they aren't collecting your data. You seem to not understand the supply and demand aspect of the exchanges or what exactly you are trading away. YOU aren't the person that gets paid, YOU are doing to the paying as you should. There is no initial transaction, it is a constant transaction as long as you use their services. If someone were to pay you but you are only allowed to use the money you got from them on certain things would be stupid. That's what you are saying when you say "they continue to do so even offsite and after transaction". Once they have collected the data they can do whatever they want with it, its theirs now, you gave it to them. You don't want your data collected ? simple, stop using all the "free" services provided to you by company like Facebook and google FOREVER.

@AbleHammer Realistically AI will never take over. A problem most scientist agree on is a program going rouge instead of an artificial intelligence willingly deciding to wipe out humans.

well technically you are the person who is doing the buying, by using different websites and the such like youtube, you get to use their services for basically free and they get your data.
1
@erickeller162 I mean you are continuously using the services they provide like Facebook and Google. Thus they continuously take your data. It's like a netflix subscription service except instead of paying with money you pay with your data.
1
@erickeller162 Well they can only collect your data of what you are doing when you are on their sight. Any data they get from that one time you used their sight is basically theirs. It's like how if you pay a subscription service you don't get your money back if you don't use it. Thus they don't stop using the data you initially give them.

Honestly that would be a good thing, if we could completely automate ALL jobs humans would be free to pursue what ever it is they wanted. We would be living in a utopian post scarcity society.
